Renaissance Covington, the non-profit downtown promotional organization, is a semi-finalist for a  Great American Main Street Award.

The National Main Street Center, a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, made the announcement on Thursday.

Renaissance was noted for meeting nearly all of the organization’s goals laid out in 2014 in a downtown that saw 66 new jobs created and more than $5 million in private investment.

Winners of the GAMSAs will be honored at a ceremony in May at the National Main Streets Conference in Milwaukee.

Previous winners from Kentucky include Paducah and Danville. The awards have been given out since 1995.

Renaissance hosts Art Off Pike, the annual street fair featuring art, food, and entertainment on Sunday, September 27. Follow the event on Facebook.
