Newport Central Catholic High School will be looking for a new girls head soccer coach for next season.
The school posted the opening on Jan. 2 and asked anyone interested to send resume and references to Athletic Director Jeff Schulkens at jschulkens@ncchs.com or call 859-292-0001 ext. 511 with any questions.
Schulkens noted it was a “mutual parting of ways” with former coach Raymond Joshua.
Joshua was the coach the previous two seasons, guiding them to a 10-32-2 record during that span. The Thoroughbreds are coming off a 3-20-1 season, finishing as 36th District runner-up and making the 9th Region tournament quarterfinals. They’ll graduate 10 players from the 2023 team.
The high school is optimistic to start breaking ground on an on-campus multi-purpose athletic complex this year. The facility would provide a home field for football, boys and girls soccer and track and field, and a practice facility for baseball and softball teams.
The process is in the works and they have the pledges to meet funding needs. The school will break ground once 50% of the funds needed for the complex are in hand. The school is hopeful the athletic complex will be ready by August 2025.
