Life Learning Center was recognized as one of four 2022 Impact 100 Grant recipients from across the Cincinnati area, and the only one in Northern Kentucky. The $101,000 award will support Life Learning Center’s Pillars Café Transformation project, an announcement said.

The Covington-based Life Learning Center helps at-risk individuals gain education and employment opportunities. Most of their clients report no monthly income.

Pillars Cafe served more than 10,000 meals last year with all of the organization’s clients using it. To date, all meals have been prepared without a traditional stove, hood, grease trap, and other miscellaneous appliances. With Impact 100 funding, LLC will not only be able to install or improve their appliances, but also augment kitchen staff to support the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals Monday-Saturday, the organization said.

With the expansion of the kitchen in place, Life Learning Center will implement small-scale catering services for on-site events to reduce associated food costs and eliminate outsourcing, the announcement said.

Clients in the transformational skills program also will be able to participate in culinary and hospitality training.

Impact 100 provides grants through funding raised by women. For every 100 women who contribute $1,000, a $100,000 grant is awarded to a local nonprofit.
