Cooper (2-0) volleyball knocked off the host Dixie Heights Colonels (0-2), 3-1 (25-18, 25-14, 17-25, 25-18) in its first 9th Region match of the season.

Senior libero Chloe Fortner had 16 digs and five aces with sophomore Audrey Schilling recording 14 for the Lady Jaguars. Junior setter Sadie Smith had 24 assists, 11 digs and three aces. Senior Rylie Depue led Cooper with 12 kills and senior Holland Morris had nine kills and nine digs.

Cooper travels to Holy Cross (1-0) on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. battle. Dixie Heights takes on Beechwood on Monday at the same time.

Bishop Brossart 3, Boone County 1

The Lady ‘Stangs (2-0) downed the Lady Rebels (0-2) in Florence in a non-region game.

Junior Maddie Kremer had 28 digs and senior Ava Thomas had 19. Senior setter Savannah Seiter had 29 assists, five aces and six kills. Sophomore Corrine Blackburn had 16 kills with sophomore Kate Neltner recording 10 kills and junior Kayla Hesse had six.

Bishop Brossart plays host to Highlands (1-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Boone County plays in the Glacier Invitational at Bracken County on Saturday starting with Lexington Christian at 11 a.m.

Beechwood 3, Highlands 1

The Tigers (1-1) won the home 9th Region game over the Bluebirds (1-1) by 25-15, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16 scores.

Senior setter Kenzi Vennefron had six assists and sophomore Ella Cox had four to lead Highlands. Junior Rachel Ossege had seven kills and three blocks. Senior Emma Daly added three blocks.

Beechwood plays host to Scott County (1-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Highlands travels to Bishop Brossart (2-0) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Conner 3, Newport Central Catholic 1

The Lady Cougars (2-0) stayed undefeated with the 25-19, 24-26, 25-10, 25-17 win over the Thoroughbreds (0-3).

Conner had 42 kills, 19 blocks, 39 assists, 81 digs and eight aces as a team. Junior middle blockers Lilly Hamburg and Peyton Walker led Conner with 15 and nine kills respectively. Walker also had six blocks. Senior setter Briana Stone had 20 assists and 12 digs. Junior libero Anna Hamiton had 25 digs and sophomore defensive specialist Bailey Morris had 10 digs.

Conner travels to Lloyd Memorial (2-2) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. NewCath plays host to Bellevue (0-3) on Monday at 7 p.m.

The Colonels (4-0) won the battle of 9th Region unbeatens taking care of the Indians (3-1) for their fourth shutout in four games. They’ve outscored their four opponents, 19-0.

Senior Bennett Gerak led the Colonels with two goals. Seniors Reed Brixey, Ryder Kennedy and junior Ryle Cullen had the other Dixie Heights goals. Senior Noah Koenig had three saves and freshman Donovan Lameier had one. Senior goalkeeper Braden Blackburn had three saves.

Dixie Heights battles Lexington Catholic (4-0-1) in the Northern Kentucky Showcase at Cooper on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Cooper 6, Beechwood 2

The Jaguars (2-0-2) hit the road and recorded the 9th Region win over the Tigers (3-2).

Senior midfielder Taylor Moore and senior forward Adam Morris had two goals each with senior forward Alex Morris and freshman forward Maddox Pemberton scoring one each. Pemberton had two assists with Alex Morris, junior defender Landon Hughes and senior defender Brandon Keating had one assist each.

Beechwood travels to Lexington Lafayette (2-2) for a 9 a.m. game Saturday. Cooper plays host to Louisville Collegiate the same day at 7 p.m. in the Northern Kentucky Showcase.

Conner 2, Highlands 1

The Cougars (2-2) scored twice in the first two minutes and held on for the 9th Region win over the Bluebirds (2-2).

Junior forward Mason Arevalo had both Conner goals with senior Cyle Lovins and senior Ethan Sands tallying the assists. Junior goalkeeper Owen King had eight saves and sophomore Trey Wagner had 11. Senior forward Colin Pieper had the goal for Highlands and junior goalkeeper Jack Wilson had one save.

Highlands takes on Lexington Dunbar (3-0) at 5:15 p.m. at Ryle in the Northern Kentucky Showcase on Saturday. Conner plays host to Holmes (1-1) on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Campbell County 5, Walton-Verona 2

The Camels (2-1) took down the host Bearcats (1-2-2) in a non-region game outshooting them 12-4.

Junior Noah Rittinger led Campbell County with three goals and an assist for a hat trick. Sophomore Austin Bush had one goal and one assist with junior Kaden Rose scoring the other Campbell County goal. Juniors James Besecker and Broc Sorgenfrei had the assists. Goalkeepers Alexander Jenkins and Brycen Faulkner had one save each.

Junior Tyler Wolfe and senior Mateo Mains had the Bearcat goals. Mains and junior Mason Morwessel had assists. Junior goalkeeper Sam Kunkle had 11 saves for Walton-Verona.

Campbell County travels to Newport Central Catholic (4-0-1) on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. game.

Simon Kenton 1, Ryle 0

The Pioneers (2-3) ventured west and came back with a non-region win against the Raiders (1-2-1).

Ryle outshot Simon Kenton, 18-6. Senior midfielder Ayden Theobald scored the game’s only goal, unassisted. Freshman Miles Mullen had eight saves for Simon Kenton and junior Landon Barth had four.

Simon Kenton plays host to Male (2-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. Ryle plays host to Madison Central (0-3) on Saturday in the Northern Kentucky Showcase at 3:30 p.m.

Newport Central Catholic 10, Holmes 0

The Thoroughbreds (4-0-1) downed the Bulldogs (1-1) to win the first home game of the season at Morscher Park Sports Complex.

Junior midfielder Ryan Desmond scored three goals to lead the Thoroughbreds. Senior midfielder Ryan Barth, sophomore midfielder Chase Fields and junior midfielder Owen Roeder scored two goals each with junior midfielder Mason McCloskey scoring the other goal. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Mullen and sophomore goalkeeper Mitchell Martin combined for the shutout.

NewCath plays host to Campbell County (2-1) on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Holmes travels to Richmond Model (4-0) on Saturday for an 11:30 a.m. battle.
