186 Cases of COVID-19 in Northern Kentucky; 14 COVID-19 Related Deaths

Anyone who participates in mass gatherings will now be required to self-quarantine for two weeks, Gov. Andy Beshear said Friday.

“We’re having to take a new action, which I hoped that we wouldn’t,” said Beshear. “Any individual that’s going to participate in a mass gathering of any type that we know about this weekend, we are going to record license plates, provide it to local health departments and the local health departments are going to come to your door with an order that you need to be quarantined for 14 days. If you make that decision to expose yourself to this virus, it’s not fair to everyone else out there that you might expose it to.”

“This is an example of personal responsibility,” he said.

Beshear later clarified that his order does not apply to drive-in services and that it applies to all mass gatherings they hear about.

In Northern Kentucky, as of 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, eight additional cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Northern Kentucky, for 186 total cases.

There are 85 cases in Kenton County, 42 cases in Campbell County, 48 cases in Boone County and 11 cases in Grant County. This includes one new death. The individual was a Boone County resident over 80 years of age.

“As we move into the holiday weekend, it is critical that we maintain social distancing and stay healthy at home. Our celebrations may look different this year, but this is what we must do to win the fight against COVID-19,” said Dr. Lynne Saddler, District Director of NKY Health.

“Just because we have to be apart physically during this holiday weekend doesn’t mean that we can’t remain connected to our family and friends.”
