Footlighters’ second show of the 2019-20 season is now playing at the Stained Glass Theater in Newport.
The Spitfire Grill is based on the 1996 film, and is the story of Percy, a feisty parolee who follows her dreams to small-town Wisconsin where she up working at an old diner. The owner wants to sell, so Percy suggests a raffle, with entry fees of $100.
When mail starts to arrive by the wheelbarrow, the show really takes off with a score filled with country, bluegrass, and folk influences.
Dan Maloney directs.
