The popular Comet Bluegrass AllStars return to Devou Park on Thursday, June 25, bringing their harmonic mix of bluegrass and folk to the Music@BCM concert series.
Formed in the mid-70s as the house band for The Comet pub in Northside, the All Stars include six talented pickers and grinners who perform on fiddle, banjo, bass, guitar and mandolin. Winners of a number of regional music awards, the band has opened for legends such as Ricky Skaggs and Sam Bush, and performed with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra in the American Originals concert at Music Hall.
The concert takes place under the stars (or inside if it rains) in BCM’s amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road-Devou Park in Covington. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the performance from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12. BCM members admitted free with a paying guest.
Adult beverages will be available for purchase. Behringer Crawford members will receive one free drink ticket. Concertgoers can also purchase great food from Colonial Cottage and support local youth and community organizations in the process.
The next Music@BCM concert, “Top Shelf,” featuring The Blue Wisp Big Band, will be held on Thursday, July 9.
Music@BCM’s 2015 sponsors include Ashley Development, Colonial Cottage, Ersatz & Moot Point Railway Company and the Alumni of WNOP Jazz, Ruth Faragher and Family, Hatfield Insurance Agency & Grange Insurance, KW Mechanical, Lucarelli Tactical Group, Reality Tuesday Café and media sponsors WVXU, WGUC and WMUB.
