A candlelight vigil is scheduled in Covington to honor three fallen police officers.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodges #1, #10, and #20 invite all to attend the event on Monday, December 29, at 7 p.m. It will take place at the Northern Kentucky Police Memorial at the foot of the Roebling Suspension Bridge in Covington.

New York City Police Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenijan Liu, while sitting in their cruiser, were murdered by Ismaaiyl Brinsley, a killer who had made online references to the recent protests over the deaths of black men at the hands of police.

In Florida, Tarpon Springs Officer Charlie Kondak was shot and killed in the line of duty.

On Monday night, the Campbell County and Covington Color Guards will present the colors while the Emerald Society Drum & Pipe Corps performs, and Kenton County Sheriff Chuck Korzenborn plays Taps.

Uniformed officers will fall in line for a short benediction. A link to the Facebook event is here.

On December 13, Covington Police Headquarters was the scene of a “die-in” protest of the deaths of black men.
