It was Wildcats versus Wildcats Friday night in Newport where the hosts would win this cat fight.

Both teams entered the game with losing records, but Newport got off to a winning way immediately, scoring touchdowns on both of its initial possessions. Newport senior Dominick Joseph scored three touchdowns in the first quarter boosting the team’s lead to 35-7 after just one quarter of play.

Newport (2-3) would eventually run up the score to 56-7 at the half before closing out the game 62-13 and bagging the Homecoming victory. Pendleton drops to 2-4 on the season.

Conner (1-4) picked up its first win, beating South Oldham, 27-21

Dixie Heights (4-1) put away Boone Co. (1-5), 38-7

Simon Kenton (6-0) got by Ryle (1-5), 24-17

Walton-Verona (5-1) annihilated Carroll Co. (1-5), 57-13
