The Kentucky Young Democrats will host its annual convention in Covington this weekend, starting Friday evening.
Â
This year’s convention is hosted by Northern Kentucky Young Democrats (NKYD) through Sunday.
Â
The convention is being held at the RiverCenter Marriott. On Friday evening, the NKYD and KYD executive committees will host a reception at 7 p.m. at Molly Malone’s in Covington. Speakers include Covington Mayor Sherry Carran and State Auditor Adam Edelen.
Â
“All are welcome at the reception,” said Josh Estep, president of NKYD. “It’s a way we can show our appreciation for all the support we have received here in Northern Kentucky and will allow us all to welcome KYD delegates to the area.”
Â
Secretary of State and US Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes is a featured speaker on Saturday along with State Representatives Arnold Simpson (D-Covington) and Dennis Keene (D-Wilder).
Â
The convention will also visit the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.
Â
“NKYD is very excited to show off our area to the rest of the Commonwealth and to show that there are still Democrats in Northern Kentucky,” Estep said.
