Warner Allen, who first ran for Covington City Commission in 2006, is one of sixteen candidates to file for the 2014 race.

Allen’s previous campaign was during the one and only year in which Covington used a ward system in which the city was divided into four areas where two candidates faced off in each area. Allen narrowly lost to incumbent Jerry Stricker that year.

A local Covington resident has announced today that he will run for City Commission for the second time since 2006 with a promise to do better for Covington residents, business owners and service employees.

From Warner Allen:

Warner Allen, 36, a lifelong resident, born and raised in Covington and 1995 graduate of Holmes High School announced today his candidacy for city commissioner.  Allen is running on a campaign commitment and theme that “We Can Do Better”. The theme resonated so well in his first run for office in 2006 that his peers and Covington residents had been hoping for his return, now eight years later.

“I am blessed to have this opportunity to return to my passion in public service knowing that Covington can do better,” said Allen, a local business owner and civic entrepreneur.  “I love my hometown and I will do all I can to the best of my ability to build on Covington’s successes and future through strengthened teamwork, collaboration and leadership with a formidable vision.”

Allen’s campaign to “do better” centers, in part, on preventing tolls in Northern Kentucky, increasing citizen participation and influence, riverfront development and urban renaissance, protecting local businesses, strategic education partnerships, and quality service delivery.

Allen is known for his career as a public relations, marketing communications and nonprofit professional who has traveled the world in his roles and served in such capacities with Covington Board of Education, Toyota Boshoku, WKRC-TV, Northern Kentucky Convention Center and Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati.  He has worked with global & U.S. CEOs and numerous governors and celebrities.

In his roles, he has served as chief spokesperson in charge of public relations and communications, government affairs, philanthropy, development and fundraising, strategic planning, consulting, crisis management, executive administration and more.  In 2013, he became business owner, founder and principal with his public relations consultancy, Niche Public Relations, focusing on clients in the legal, healthcare, product development and launch, technology, social service, nonprofit and faith-based arenas.

Allen lives on Russell Street with his wife, Jen, and their two dogs.  They are expecting their first son, a boy named Sterling, to be born this week.  Allen’s website, www.warnerallen.com will by online this week.
