Greg Paeth will make another run for the Covington City Commission after finishing fifth in the 2012 campaign, a spot short of landing a seat.
The former Kentucky Post reporter and neighborhood association president is one of sixteen candidates running for a spot on the commission.
Paeth’s campaign announcement is below. Greg Paeth, a long-time Covington resident who has been active as a volunteer in many Covington organizations for more than 20 years, filed Tuesday as a candidate for the Covington City Commission.
“Rebuilding our neighborhoods from Licking-Riverside on the north to South Covington and every neighborhood in between must be a top priority for the next city commission,” said Paeth, who has lived in the Old Seminary Square neighborhood since 1975. “We have to do all that we can to make Covington an appealing place to live for everyone from young families to empty nesters. Building our residential population will help revitalize our business community and create jobs.”
“I believe I can work together with other members of the commission and the city staff to develop a strategy that can help breathe some new life into Covington.”
Paeth is a former reporter, columnist and editor for The Kentucky Post and The Cincinnati Post, where he worked until the newspaper ceased publication at the end of 2007. Since then he has written articles on a freelance basis for publications in Cincinnati and Lexington and for Northern Kentucky University. He is the former longtime president of the Old Seminary Square Neighborhood Association and had served as its representative on the Covington Neighborhood Collaborative. He also is a member of the Westside Action Coalition and the board of directors of the Covington Urban Partnership, which is working with the Covington Business Council on the creation of a Business Improvement District that would help attract both businesses and residents to the city.
Paeth also is a board member and the secretary of the Friends of Covington and edits its newsletter. He also is a board member of the Covington Education Foundation and is a member of the Downtown Center City Action Plan steering committee. He is a former member of the City of Covington’s Vacant Properties Review Commission and the Urban Design Review BoardPaeth is married to Beverly, who retired last year as an instructional coach with Covington Independent Schools. They have two grown sons, Christian and Joshua, who are married and have careers outside of Northern Kentucky, and five grandchildren.
