Behringer-Crawford Museum is housecleaning today, but what they’re really cleaning isn’t a house. It’s a car, but not any car. It’s an old streetcar built in 1892 and named the “Kentucky.”
The Kentucky, one of the museum’s most unique artifacts, was cleaned Sept. 6 for the gala event Sept. 14 called freshART 2013.
The 21st freshART involves more than 30 regional artists who head over the hill from the museum into Devou Park and create works of art inspired by the idyllic pastoral setting. The public is welcome to drive through the park and visit with the artists from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The drive and admission to the museum is free during those hours. Works by regional artists which have been previously created will be on display within the museum and for sale through a silent auction.
Later that evening, the brand new artworks will be auctioned off at a gala dinner event at 6 p.m. to benefit BCM educational programming. Reservations for the evening gala and live auction are made here or by calling 859-491-4003. The cost is $65 per person before Sept. 7, and $75 per person after Sept. 7.

Since its beginning in 1992, freshART has generated over $500,000 to support the museum’s youth programming, enriching the lives of more than 191,000 children in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.
