Congressman Massie Assigned to Committees, Chooses Staff

Thomas Massie, the newly elected Congressman representing Northern Kentucky, has been assigned to his committees. From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie will get a voice on key infrastructure projects, such as the Brent Spence Bridge, as a member of the the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.

Massie, R-Ky., was named Monday to that committee and also the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Massie’s role in Washington, D.C. and staff have started to coalesce since he was sworn in Nov. 13 as the representative for Kentucky’s Fourth Congressional District.

“It is an honor for me to be selected to serve on these vital committees,” Massie said in a statement released Monday. “These appointments grant me the opportunity to address the needs of the people of the Fourth District, and I am excited to begin the important work of serving my fellow citizens.”

The new Congressman from Lewis County has also selected his key staff members as noted in this news release:

“I am proud to announce the new members of my staff who will serve Kentucky’s 4th district,” Congressman Massie said. “The dedication, experience, and common sense they bring to their new roles will benefit us all. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them, and together we will do everything we can to meet the needs of our fellow citizens.”

Chris McCane, District Director

Chris McCane most recently served in the elected position of Lewis County Jailer, where the reforms he instituted were noted as model. Chris has been a small business owner involved in real estate and other ventures. He has 16 years of experience in corrections supervision, and was a corrections specialist for the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, where he managed and monitored 21 facility employees. He bears a B.A. from Morehead State University in Sociology and Corrections.

Bob Porter, Field Director

Bob Porter has owned and operated several businesses in Northern Kentucky, including Mertack’s Furniture, Builders Cabinet Supply and Richwood Land Company. He is a past president of the Northern Kentucky Home Builders Association and was twice awarded “Builder of the Year.” He has been active in community service for over 35 years and has served on many organization boards.

Mary Kreft, District Office Manager

Mary Kreft was the District Office Manager for former Congressman Geoff Davis, and she will continue to serve the 4th District as Congressman Massie’s District Office Manager. She has a B.S. in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, where she graduated Summa cum Laude. She is the proud mother of four children.

Stacie Rockaway, Western District Field Representative

Stacie Rockaway most recently worked on Congressman Massie’s campaign as the Western Kentucky Director. She brings to the district team years of experience in local and statewide politics, coordinating several elections in addition to serving as a caucus communications coordinator for the Kentucky Senate Majority Office. She graduated from the University of South Carolina College of Journalism and Mass Communications, and spent a semester at the New York School of Visual Arts.

J.R. Reed, Eastern District Field Representative

J.R. Reed is a United States Army Veteran and retired Public School Administrator for the Greenup County School system. He has spent the last eight years serving the district as Senior Field Representative for former Congressman Geoff Davis in the Ashland district office. He is a graduate for Morehead State University.
