Friday night marked the end of the KHSAA football regular season. Playoffs will begin on Thursday, Nov. 7.
Here’s a roundup from Friday night’s action:
Covington Catholic 42, Campbell County 28
The Colonels shot out to a 42-0 lead before halftime on their way to an eighth straight victory to close out the season.
Cash Harney cleared the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season in the victory, his two carries on the night going for 103 yards and two touchdowns, one of them 57 yards out, the other from 46 yards out. He also threw for 97 yards and two touchdowns, both touchdown tosses going to Oliver Link.
Dylan Gaiser added two touchdown runs as he finished with 89 yards rushing on six carries. He can join Harney in the 1,000-yard rushing club next week if he totals 49 yards rushing, sitting at 951 for the season.
Gaiser added an interception, along with Tate Kruer to help lead the defense.
The Camels scored their 28 points in the second half, Lucas Anthrop rushing for two touchdowns, Trevor Bertram and Aiden Dowds the others.
The Colonels (8-2) will host Boyd County next week in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Camels (2-8) will hit the road to DuPont Manual in the Class 6A playoffs, Friday’s loss their fifth straight to close out the regular season.
Walton-Verona 32, Boone County 29
For the first time in program history, the Bearcats defeat the Rebels. Walton-Verona (5-5) finished 5-0 on the road and 0-5 at home in the regular season. Boone County had won the prior four meetings all-time.
Walton-Verona plays at Breathitt County on Nov. 8 to begin their Class 2A playoff postseason journey.
Boone County finishes their season at 2-8, losing their last six games and missing out on the playoffs.
Newport 37, Holy Cross 0
Kyle Lee threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns and the Wildcats shutout the Indians as the two will meet again next week in the first round of the 1A playoffs.
The shutout was the Wildcats third of the season and second straight. Ryder Brewer recorded a safety while Jaylen Hartness added two sacks to his team-high 12.5 this season.
Adonaje Lowe, Kendall Buck-Barber and Kayveion Sharp were on the receiving end of Lee’s touchdown throws while Rodzion Thompson and Ayden Stachel ran for touchdowns.
Newport (8-2) outgained Holy Cross (2-8) 331-66 on the night.
The two will be back at Newport again next week, this one where the loser goes home for good.
Lloyd Memorial 61, Scott 13
The Juggernauts rushed for 295 yards and six touchdowns in the blowout victory. They led 35-0 in the second quarter.
Yurii Collins had 99 yards rushing on three carries with two touchdowns, Jaxon Fann, Stanley Smith, Tyler Copeland and Kaleb Evans also rushed for scores. Isaiah Sebastian played quarterback, completing 5-of-7 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown pass to Elijah Collins.
Lincoln Tomlinson and Camrin O’Donnell added defensive touchdowns, returning interceptions to the end zone.
Lloyd (8-2) hosts Bath County in their first round Class 3A playoff matchup.
Scott (2-8) missed out on the playoffs this season.
Paris 52, Ludlow 12
The Panthers (7-3) had a four-game winning streak snapped in the loss, the Class 1A, District 4 regular season champs hosting Dayton in the 1A playoffs next week. If they can win the opener over Dayton, a potential rematch with Newport looms.

Ryle 42, Dixie Heights 27
The Raiders led 42-6 at halftime, getting a game to a running clock before halftime for the fourth straight game.
Ryle (8-2) starts their Class 6A playoff run at home against Pleasure Ridge Park next week.
Dixie Heights (3-7) will begin their postseason on the road at Woodford County in 5A, looking to upset the Yellow Jackets for the second straight season.
Ashland Blazer 58, Simon Kenton 28
Ashland led 39-14 at halftime in this one.
Simon Kenton (4-6) plays at St. Xavier in Louisville to open the Class 6A playoffs.
Newport Central Catholic 54, Holmes 0
The Thoroughbreds (7-3) have won four straight headed into the postseason.
They’re set to host Trimble County in the first round of the 1A playoffs, Thursday at Covington Catholic.
The Bulldogs (0-10) lost their 22nd straight game in the process, their second straight winless season.
Bellevue 40, Jackson County 6
The Tigers led 40-6 at halftime.
Jordan Pendleton had 150 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the Tigers (5-5).
The five wins is their most in a season since 2018, when they also won five. They’ll look for their first playoff victory since 2014 in a road tilt with Bishop Brossart to start the 1A playoffs.
