Three district volleyball tournaments kicked off Monday and all the four seeds advanced in their respective tournaments.
33rd District at Boone County
Boone County 3, Heritage Academy 0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-4)
The host Rebels bested the Eagles to move on to the semifinals Tuesday against top-seeded Ryle at 6 p.m.
Marlee Vier led Boone County (9-23) with 13 kills, eight aces and five blocks and Azaria Sweet had 14 digs and seven aces. Devin Readnour added 22 assists.
Heritage Academy finished the season 6-21 in Caitlyn Baker’s first season as head coach. But the Eagles do not graduate any seniors.
34th District at Dixie Heights
Lloyd Memorial 3, Ludlow 0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-14)
The Juggernauts won a postseason game for the first time in two years, besting Ludlow for the second time this year.
Lloyd Memorial takes on top-seeded St. Henry on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
Ludlow finishes the season 14-18. The Panthers graduate five seniors.
36th District at Newport Central Catholic
Dayton 3, Newport 0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-20)
The Devils beat the Wildcats for the fifth straight time to move on in the district tournament and takes on top-seeded Highlands on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
Dayton (15-18) had 27 kills, 27 assists, 68 digs, 16 aces and one block in the win. McKenzie Sullivan led the Devils with 22 digs and eight aces and Haylee Reynolds had 20 assists. Kierston Reynolds had 11 digs with Hailey Leger recording 10 digs and three aces. Emily Hall added 10 digs and two aces with Lanaya Torres recording a team-high seven kills.
Newport finished the season 7-25 and graduates four seniors.
