The Villa Madonna Vikings volleyball team completed a second straight undefeated run to the Ludlow Classic championship, winning all three games Saturday.
Villa Madonna (5-2) knocked off Calvary Christian, 2-0 (25-17, 25-18) then host Ludlow, 2-0 (25-17, 25-11) before topping Boone County in the championship, 2-0 (25-14, 25-12). Maya Kondik was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Catherine Gifford and Rebecca Raziano also made the all-tournament team.
Boone County (4-3) finished 4-1 in the tournament, beating Grant County, 2-0 (25-11, 25-12) and Lloyd Memorial, 2-0 (25-15, 25-21) on Saturday. Marlee Vier and Azaria Sweet represented the Rebels on the all-tournament team.
The Vikings play host to Holy Cross (1-0) on Monday at 7 p.m. The Rebels play host to Dixie Heights (4-1) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Dixie Heights finishes 2-1 at Henry County
The Colonels won two of the three matches at Henry County on Saturday.
Dixie Heights (4-1) downed Henry County, 2-0 (25-21, 25-19) and Owen County 2-0 (25-17, 25-12). The Colonels lost to Trinity Christian out of Lexington, 2-0 (25-22, 25-19).
Maggie Best combined for 27 kills and 20 digs over the three matches to lead the Colonels. Christen Tarter added 33 assists and 17 digs with Maddie Kelly adding 23 assists and Madison Offner digging up 17 balls. Celia Wallace placed a team-high nine aces.
Dixie Heights plays at Beechwood (1-1) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Conner 3, Wyoming (Ohio) 0 (25-22, 25-16, 28-26)
The Cougars crossed the Ohio River and came back with a win.
Conner had 39 kills, eight blocks, 36 assists, 47 digs and 11 aces. Lilly Hamburg had 11 kills and three blocks to lead the Cougars (3-0). Peyton Walker and Carly Nehus followed with nine kills each.
Anna Hamilton started the Cougar attack with 18 digs. Aubrey Depenbrock had a team-high 18 assists to go with seven digs and three aces. Mackenzie Sandeen followed with 13 assists, eight digs and five aces.
Conner plays host to Newport Central Catholic (0-3) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Henry County 28, Newport 12
Newport lost the battle of the Wildcats to open the season Saturday.
Henry County outgained Newport, 169-66 on the ground and 162-128 through the air. Kyle Lee completed 11-of-28 passes for Newport, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Landon Stacks had five catches for 31 yards and a touchdown with Keegan Farrell hauling in a 20-yard touchdown for Newport.
Ayden Stachel led the Newport defense with 11 tackles and four tackles for a loss. Sean Hurry added nine tackles, including four for a loss and two quarterback sacks. Jake Porter also had two tackles for a loss, including a sack. Kendall Buck-Barber had an interception.
Newport plays at Holmes (0-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
Eminence 52, Bellevue 18
The Tigers trailed 22-18 at halftime before the Warriors outscored them, 30-0 in the second half Saturday in the season-opener for both teams.
Eminence outgained Bellevue, 422-131. Tristan Woodyard completed 13-of-26 passes for 158 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions for the Tigers. Jordan Pendleton caught seven passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns with Brayden Sizemore catching four passes for 48 yards and Curtis Rust had a 14-yard touchdown reception.
Bellevue travels to Trimble County (1-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Raiders won their third straight with a convincing win over the Indians on Saturday.
Josh Line, Diego Hoenderkamp and Brice Denigan led the Raiders (3-2) with two goals each. Jake McCann headed one over the Indian goalkeeper off a free kick from Owen Schierberg for the other Ryle goal.
Ryle plays at Covington Catholic (3-2-1) on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Notre Dame’s (5-1) Kate Lenihan score the game’s lone goal on a Hannah Knapke assist. Hannah Renaker and Adilynn Melton combined for the shutout of the Indians (3-2) in goal.

The Bluebirds rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 9th Region road win.
Laney Smith led Highlands (4-1) with two goals. Reese Wilkins had one goal and one assist. Claire Cavacini scored the other goal and Kate Jamie had the other assist. Goalkeeper Natalie Hinegardner had one save.
Ryle (1-4) has lost four straight. Emma Price scored the lone Raiders goal.
Highlands plays host to East Central (Indiana) on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Raiders play at Conner (4-1-1) on Monday at 7:45 p.m.

The Mustangs won their fourth in a row on the road Saturday.
Rachel Shewmaker scored one goal and assisted the other key by Kiersten Key for the Mustangs (5-1). Zoey Woosley added an assist and Madeline Broering stopped five Indian shots for the shutout at goalkeeper.
