Two district champions were crowned Monday night in Northern Kentucky.

Five other games were played in NKY as teams fought to keep their seasons alive.

Here’s how it unfolded:

33rd District Championship

Ryle 6, Conner 5

Ryle (20-11) won a second consecutive district title with a tight one over Conner at Boone County High School on Monday night.

A three-run fifth inning fueled by Kam Patterson’s two-run homer gave the Lady Raiders a 5-3 lead and they hung on from there. They took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth thanks to a Makenna Hirshey RBI single.

Conner got within 6-5 on a two-run single from Riley Rosenborough and had the bases loaded with one out, but a fielder’s choice and pop out ended the threat to keep it at a 6-5 game.

Addison Farmer worked a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the save, pitching the final 1.2 innings in allowing just a hit and a walk. Rayne Patsel picked up the win, tossing 5.1 innings of two-hit baseball, allowing four earned runs and walking five.

Kiley Patterson led Ryle at the plate with two hits as they collected seven as a team.

Conner (19-11) put the ball in play as they didn’t strike out once, but struggled to find grass as they finished with just three hits, Rosenborough with two of them and three of the five RBI.

Jocelyn Ortiz pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six hits, six earned runs, walked two and struck out four.

Both teams advance to the 9th Region tournament slated to begin on Sunday.

Dixie will host Sunday’s quarterfinal game against either the 33rd, 35th or 36th District runner-up. Villa Madonna (16-11) will play on the road in the quarterfinals on Sunday at either the 33rd, 35th or 36th District.
