Week 5 LINK nky Pick ’em

Week 5 is here!

This year at LINK nky, we decided to add some fun to our coverage. We’re going to do a weekly picks contest with the three of the sports writers (Evan Dennison, Ray Schaefer and Josh Kalb) we have here and throw in a little twist…a guest picker each week. The guest picker will most likely be someone you recognize as a member of our community, whether it be someone who is on the sidelines with us, sports TV personalities, former coaches or players or someone who may not even be entrenched in the sports scene, but still invested in our communities to some capacity.

Things tightened up a little last week as Josh’s lead dwindled a tad as he went 7-3, allowing Evan to gain a game going 8-2. Joe Danneman also went 7-3 while Ray went 6-4 and currently sits in last.

Josh currently holds a one-game lead over Evan at 32-8, Evan sitting at 31-9. Guest pickers are a combined 27-13 while Ray is 26-14.

This week we add a competitor into the fray as the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Brendan Connelly gets in on the action.

Brendan has been with the Enquirer since 2022 as a high school sports reporter and is an award-winning writer. He’s an NKU and Covington Latin grad, so his hometown roots are definitely in NKY.

When he’s not on the sidelines, he’s an avid runner who has ran in nearly a dozen half marathons. We’ve shared the sidelines with Brendan many, many times, and it’s always a good time of laughs, insight and hopefully a good game.
