Golfers hit the course at Devou Park earlier this month and raised more than $70,000 for inclusive education programs at Northern Kentucky Catholic schools.
Held on Sept. 12, the FIRE Foundation of Northern Kentucky inaugural ‘FIRE in the Hole’ golf outing brought together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, donors and supporters for a memorable day of golf, fellowship and fun, while raising awareness and funds for the foundation.
The event raised more than $70,000 to further FIRE’s mission of helping Catholic schools throughout the Diocese of Covington welcome, support and educate students of all abilities.
“We are absolutely overwhelmed by the generosity of our community,” said President of FIRE Foundation of Northern Kentucky Missy Hail. “To raise more than $70,000 at our very first golf outing is incredible. Every golfer, sponsor, volunteer and donor who supported this event helped create more opportunities for children of all abilities to learn, grow and belong in our Catholic schools.”
Funds raised through “FIRE in the Hole” will help provide Catholic schools with resources such as specialized staff, teacher training, adaptive tools, educational resources and other support needed to create inclusive learning environments.
“FIRE in the Hole was about so much more than golf,” Hail said. “It was about bringing people together, sharing FIRE’s mission and showing what can happen when a community believes every child deserves a place to belong.”
