The Kentucky High School Football Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists throughout the state, with one representative for each of the 16 basketball regions in order to provide geographical balance. The poll will be released each Wednesday morning throughout the regular season.
In the sixth edition of the media poll, three northern Kentucky teams show up in both the 5A and 1A polls. Cooper remained No. 1 in 5A with Highlands staying put at No. 4, Conner holding firm at No. 9. Newport Central Catholic moved up from No. 8 to No. 6 in the 1A poll, Newport right behind the Thoroughbreds in 7th while Bishop Brossart made its 1A poll debut in a tie for 9th.
Ryle picks up some momentum in the 6A poll as they move into a tie for fifth with Frederick Douglass, up a spot from sixth last week.
Covington Catholic stayed put at No. 5 in 4A while Lloyd Memorial moved up two spots in the 3A poll from No. 9 to No. 7.
Beechwood dropped to No. 3 in the 2A poll, Lexington Christian Academy trading places with the Tigers.
Ludlow (1A) was the lone team in NKY to appear in the others receiving votes category.
