The Kentucky High School Football Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists throughout the state, with one representative for each of the 16 basketball regions in order to provide geographical balance. The poll will be released each Wednesday morning throughout the regular season.
Going from Class 6A on down to 1A, seven northern Kentucky teams made their respective top 10’s. Ryle is at No. 8 in the 6A poll. Cooper and Highlands come in at 2-3 in the 5A poll while Covington Catholic is No. 5 in 4A. Beechwood is No. 2 in the 2A poll with Newport Central Catholic fifth and Newport 10th in the 1A poll. Ryle dropped two spots after their loss to Cooper, the Jaguars and Bluebirds stayed put in the 5A poll while the Colonels jumped up a spot. Beechwood, NewCath and Newport stayed put from the initial poll. Simon Kenton dropped out of the 6A top 10 after their loss to Simon Kenton, but did make the others receiving votes category. Dixie Heights (5A), Lloyd Memorial (3A), Ludlow (1A) and Bishop Brossart (1A) are in the others receiving votes category for their respective class.
