Finishing a game rained out Saturday, the Ryle Raiders (17-14) picked up where they left off, up 8-0 in the top of the fourth and proceeded to finish off the host Conner (12-12) 11-1 in six innings to move on to the 33rd District Title Game. The teams split two regular season meetings.
Ryle will take on Cooper (24-9) at 5:30 p.m. back at Conner on Tuesday. Ryle is back in the title game and the 9th Region Tournament for the first time since 2019.
“That was a tough thing for us,” said Jarret Goddard, Ryle Head Coach. “We hadn’t had to experience that this year. We had a lot of momentum Saturday. Making sure that momentum kept rolling was super important. We were able to continue that. Our dugout was very loud and I was happy about that.”
The Lady Raiders batted .273 (6 for 22) overall and took advantage of 10 walks earning all 11 runs and yielding none on three errors. Junior shortstop Avery Parsons went 4 for 5 with a solo home run, a double, four runs batted in and one run scored. Parsons finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.
“Avery Parsons was absolutely on fire,” Goddard said. “The kid’s bat has been on fire the entire season. She’s the leader of our team and the captain of the team. She’s been leading by example on the field. She got the momentum rolling for on Saturday and continued through (Monday).”
Senior center fielder Grace Morgan walked three times with junior second baseman Aaliyah Kaseke and sophomore pitcher Maddie Goddard walking two times each. Kaseke added two RBI. Junior first baseman Grace Tranbargar batted in two and scored twice with junior third baseman Payton Godfrey scoring twice.
Goddard (12-8) pitched a complete game striking out six and walking just two. Goddard threw 64 strikes in 102 pitches.
Conner batted .174 (4 for 23) overall. Sophomore first baseman Jalyn Cain and senior shortstop Alex Cobble had doubles.
Sophomore Mollie Sharp (9-8) also threw a complete game striking out seven. She threw 76 strikes on 163 pitches.
“Mollie is really talented and can throw the ball across the plate wherever (she wants),” Parsons said. “She has off-speed pitches and comes ready. You have to focus when she’s pitching.”
Conner last made it to the 9th Region Tournament in 2019. That team won the 33rd District crown and lost to Notre Dame in the region semifinals.
37th District Semifinals at Campbell County:
Bishop Brossart 4, Scott 1:
The Lady ‘Stangs (12-16) won the rematch against the Lady Eagles (16-18) to move on to the 10th Region Tournament.
Junior Morgan Kramer (11-13) pitched a complete game for Bishop Brossart. She struck out one, walked two and did not allow a hit until the seventh inning when Scott senior left fielder Morgan Chalk tripled and scored on a Bishop Brossart error.
Scott started eighth grader Scarlett Cochran before bringing on sophomore Emma Scribner with one out in the top of the first. Scribner struck out 10 and walked five.
Bishop Brossart batted just .160 (4 for 25) overall. Senior second baseman Bentley Fisher had a double.
Bishop Brossart had made it to the 10th Region Tournament two years in a row. Scott last made it in 2019.
Campbell County 13, Calvary Christian 0:
The host Camels (15-10) downed the Lady Cougars (10-18-1) scoring nine unearned runs off nine Calvary Christian errors.
Campbell County batted .259 (7 for 27) overall. Seventh grade second baseman Josie Feebeck led the way going 2 for 3 with a home run, two RBI and one run scored. Junior first baseman Emily Nadeau had a double and three RBI with junior Paige Stewart recording a double and two RBI. Junior catcher Izzy Whisman had a triple.
Senior center fielder Bella Bastin and eighth grade third baseman Hope Hamilton set the tone at the top of the line-up for Campbell County. They scored two runs each.
Campbell County plays host to Bishop Brossart at 6 p.m. for the district crown. The Camels have won four straight 37th District crowns minus the 2020 season wiped out by the Coronavirus 2019 pandemic.
36th District Semifinals at Newport Veterans Park:
Highlands 10, Dayton 0 (5 innings):
The Bluebirds (22-14) handled the Lady Devils (9-13) playing error-free defense behind eighth grade pitcher Kaitlyn Dixon. Dixon (7-4) struck out 10, walked one and allowed just two hits.
Highlands batted .519 (14 for 27) overall. Eighth grade catcher Payton Brown went 3 for 3 with a double, two RBI and one run scored with eighth grade second baseman Morgan Pompilio going 3 for 3 with an RBI and run scored. Junior left fielder Kennedy Baioni went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored and sophomore center fielder Bailey Markus went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Junior third baseman Carly Cramer hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning.
Highlands takes on host Newport Central Catholic (10-9) for the 36th District championship on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. NewCath downed Bellevue, 6-4 in the other 36th District semifinal.

Nicholas County 7, Bishop Brossart 0:
The Mustangs (17-17-1) struggled to get things going at the plate against the 38th District champion Blue Jackets (23-9). Nicholas County won both meetings against Bishop Brossart this season.
Bishop Brossart batted just .083 (2 for 24) overall. Senior first baseman Adam Bezold had both hits going 2 for 3.
Bishop Brossart trailed 3-0 but loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth. But the Mustangs did not score and the Blue Jackets pushed across four in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score.
Junior lefty Evan Moore (4-7) pitched into the fifth inning for Bishop Brossart striking out five before junior Brandon Bezold finished the game. Moore struck out five with Bezold striking out two and walking two.
Bishop Brossart made it to the region tournament for the first time since 2018 this season. The Mustangs last won a region game that same season beating Harrison County, 5-3 in the region quarterfinals before losing 2-0 to Montgomery County in the region semifinals at Campbell County.

Class 1A, Region 4 at Bishop Brossart Athletic Complex:
The Walton-Verona Bearcat boys and Bishop Brossart Lady ‘Stangs claimed region championships.
The Lady ‘Stangs won 12 of 18 events on their way to scoring 186 points finishing well ahead of runner-up St. Henry’s 109. The Walton-Verona boys scored 123 and second-place Beechwood scored 87.
Bishop Brossart took the top two spots in the girls long jump. Junior Chloe Hein won it with a jump of 16 feet, seven inches. Freshman Zoey Woosley finished second jumping 14-3.25. Bishop Brossart junior Miranda Csordas won the triple jump at 33-1.5. Hein also won the 200 dash in 26.58 seconds and junior teammate Hannah Kramer took second in 27.78.
Bishop Brossart won all four relays on the girls side. Hein also won the 100 dash in 13.05 seconds and junior Hayley Hickman took second in 13.47.
Bishop Brossart senior Claire Curtsinger won the mile race in five minutes, 28.89 seconds. Junior teammate Amy Klocke took second in 5:32.24. Bishop Brossart freshman Lexi Braun won the 400 dash in 1:02.01 and senior teammate Emma Bezold finished second in 1:03.49. Freshman Kaitlyn Kramer won the 300 hurdles in 50.28 seconds. Klocke also won the two-mile race in 11:37.46 and Curtsinger took third in 12:00.18. Curtsinger just signed her national letter of intent to run at the University of Cincinnati.
Walton-Verona senior Maggie Buerger and Beechwood sophomore Xavier Campbell won two events. Buerger won the girls shot put with a winning throw of 37-1.25 and the discus at 124-05. Campbell won the boys shot put at 45-1.75 and the discus in 134-03.
Walton-Verona junior Grady Shay won the boys 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds and Bearcat senior Christian Dingus finished second in 15.28. Shay took second in the 100 dash in 11.32 seconds and sophomore teammate Jackson Smith won it in 11.25. Shay won the 300 hurdles in 40.88 seconds and Dingus took second in 41.52.
Walton-Verona sophomore Jackson Smith won the 200 dash in 22.83 seconds. Walton-Verona won two relays on the boys side and Bishop Brossart won one.
The Class 1A state meet takes place on Thursday, June 2. The first event starts at 9 a.m. at the University of Kentucky.
