The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team hit the century mark in their victory over Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis on Wednesday as they continue to trend upward.

The Norse (8-16, 6-9) have won four of five after the 100-88 triumph and moved into eight place in the Horizon League with five regular season games to go.

Carter McCray posted her 12th double-double of the season, putting up 25 points and 11 rebounds. It’s her eighth double-double in the last 10 games. Khamari Mitchell-Steen also put up 25 points, hitting 15-of-19 from the free throw line. Macey Blevins added 19 points with seven rebounds while Kailee Davis and Noelle Hubert scored nine points apiece, Hubert hitting all three of her 3-point attempts.

The Norse hit 53% of their shots from the field and knocked down 24-of-31 free throws.

They return to the floor on Saturday at Wright State. If NKU can stay in the top eight of the conference, it would give them a home postseason game in the first round of the Horizon League conference tournament. They’re currently a half-game ahead of Oakland for the eighth spot and where things get really interesting, are 2.5 games out of a top four spot in the conference. Wright State is in that fourth spot, meaning Saturday’s contest is a big one for the Norse.
