The Cooper girls hit the road and knocked off Ohio power Mount Notre Dame for the second straight year, 74-55 for their 10th straight win.

Logan Palmer doubled up her team-high season average scoring 31 points to lead the way for the Jaguars. Liz Freihofer put up 17 and Bella Deere scored 11 with Haylee Noel scoring eight.

Cooper (13-3) takes on Pulaski County in the Simpson’s Tree Service/H+W Sports Classic at Franklin County at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Girls Basketball

All “A” 9th Region Quarterfinals

Ludlow 74, Newport 32

The Panthers handled the Wildcats to move into tournament semifinals against host Newport Central Catholic at 7:45 p.m. Friday.

Three players hit double digits for the Panthers (8-6). Olivia King scored 22 and Cheree Pence scored 21 with Addy Garrett adding 15.

Amariana Cook scored 20 points to lead Newport (2-10).

Newport Central Catholic 59, Villa Madonna 17

The hosts dominated the visiting Vikings to move back to the semifinals at 7:45 p.m. Friday against Ludlow.

Caroline Eaglin and Brooklyn Cole led the Thoroughbreds with 16 points each. Alaina Albrinck and Jaylee Brannen followed with 13 and 10, respectively as NewCath (8-3) won its fifth in a row.

Villa Madonna (2-9) did not have anyone score more than five points.

Campbell County 48, Augusta 41

The Camels held off the Panthers in a home 10th Region battle.

Broc Sorgenfrei led Campbell County with 13 points. Connor Weinel and Cole Johnson added 12 and 11, respectively.

Campbell County (10-2) concludes the week at home against Conner on Saturday at 5 p.m.

8th Region All “A” Semifinal

Walton-Verona 66, Eminence 29

The Bearcats recorded another convincing victory on their home court to move into the championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m. against Gallatin County.

Walton-Verona (12-4) had 10 players score. Aaron Gutman again led the way scoring 17 points. Landon Bach scored 12 with Julian Dixon scoring 11.

Bellevue 84, Calvary Christian 58

Noah Frommeyer, Zach Mertens and Curtis Rust combined to score 58 in the Tigers victory over the Cougars.

Frommeyer led the way with 28, Mertens 18 and Rust with 14.

Bellevue (9-4) has won four in a row headed into the 9th Region All “A” tournament next week. They open up the tournament with Dayton on Monday at 7:45 p.m.

Calvary Christian (3-11) takes on Bracken County in the 10th Region All “A” tournament on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
