The Bearcats won their second straight, knocking off an 8th Region rival at home.

The Bearcats feature Braylin Terrell and Ava Kendall in the post. The two scored 15 points each with Terrell making all seven free throws.

“I think it has to be (a weapon),” Walton-Verona head coach Rianna Gayheart said of Terrell and Kendall. “Our outside game isn’t where we want it to be to depend on that alone so we need to make sure we’re utilizing the insides, even inside touches to get outside shots. I think defensively, Bray is one of the best defensive players in the region if not the best in the region or all of Northern Kentucky in my opinion. Ava Kendall is starting to come along. She’s starting to play much stronger.”

Senior guard Avery Geiman made some big shots adding 10 for the Bearcats, including some off steals. Gayheart said the Bearcats are working Cam Christy slowly back into the lineup coming off an injury.

“I think we need to keep our defensive pressure up, be aggressive to the ball and force teams to the sidelines,” Geiman said. “Then transition points will be big for us.”

Walton-Verona (4-5) plays at Scott County on Saturday at Noon.
