Campbell County ended a five-game losing streak against Highlands dating back to 2019 with a 61-54 victory.

Connor Weinel led the Camels with 22 points and Broc Sorgenfrei added 19, making three 3-pointers. Nathan Smith scored nine to help the cause.

Highlands saw three players score in double figures. Brayden Moeves led the way with 19 points. Sam Vinson and Hank Shick followed with 14 and 12, respectively.

Campbell County (3-1) plays Bishop Brossart on Saturday at 7 p.m., at Campbell County Middle School. Highlands (3-3) hosts Oldham County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Newport 66, Ryle 55

The Wildcats shot 47% from the field on their way to a road win over the Raiders.

Newport also won the rebounding battle, 44-28. DeShaun Jackson and Taylen Kinney posted double-doubles for the Wildcats. Jackson had 15 points and 11 rebounds with Kinney recording 10 points and 12 rebounds. James Turner and Jabari Covington had 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Ryle put three players in double figures. Logan Verax led the way with 14 points and Landon Lorms scored 12. Anthony Coppoloa added 11 and Grady Reynolds with eight.

Newport (5-1) plays Huntington Prep (West Virginia) on Friday at 9 p.m. at Griffin Elite in Erlanger. Ryle (4-3) hosts Boone County on Friday at 8 p.m.

Cooper 57, Simon Kenton 48

The Jaguars won the road game behind balanced scoring.

Yamil Rondon led the way with 12 points and Isaiah Johnson scored 11 to lead the Jaguars with Chris Rodriguez scoring eight.

Jay Bilton had a big game for Simon Kenton scoring 24. Bode Stone nearly joined him in double figures scoring nine.

Cooper (3-2) hosts Conner to start 33rd District seed play Friday at 8 p.m. Simon Kenton (0-5) plays at South Oldham on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in 8th Region play.

Covington Catholic 72, St. Xavier (Ohio) 54

The Colonels won their third straight, taking down a Greater Catholic League opponent at home.

Brady Hussey led CovCath with 23 points, hitting 5-of-8 from the 3-point line. Cash Harney and Athens McGillis followed with 13 and 12, respectively, with Caden Miller pulling down 10 rebounds.

CovCath (5-1) hosts Newport Central Catholic on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Holy Cross 64, Roger Bacon (Ohio) 56

The Indians improved to 3-1 thanks to some solid free throw shooting, going 22-of-30 from the line in the victory.

Luke Arlinghaus led the way with 23 points, hitting on 9-of-10 free throw attempts while Nate Rominger just missed on a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. William McElheney did record a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Holy Cross returns to action on Friday when they play in the Stock Yards Bank and Trust Challenge in Morehead, facing Trinity Christian at 8 p.m. They’ll turn around and play again on Saturday in Morehead against East Carter at 1:30 p.m.

Scott 61, St. Henry 57

Scott won the road battle at St. Henry in which both teams struggled to shoot it at 38%.

Xarek Sarakatsannis led the Eagles (5-2) with 16 points, Carter Eten pulling down 10 rebounds while Jon Evans dished out four assists.

The Eagles went 19-of-23 from the free throw line, St. Henry at 18-for-30.

The Crusaders (1-5) lost their third straight and will look to break their losing streak on Saturday when they host Villa Madonna at 1:30 p.m. Scott hosts Mason County on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles bounced back from their first loss of the season with a convincing win.

Eighth grade guard Nakiah Mejia and Noelle Price scored above their 10.3 points per game averages with 17 and 11 points, respectively. Kaia Peterson added 13 as eight different Eagles scored.

Sierra McCoin and Mya Holden led Lloyd Memorial with 17 and 12, respectively.

Scott (3-1) plays at Holmes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lloyd Memorial (2-4) plays at Grant County at the same time.

Holmes 49, Williamstown 23

The Bulldogs recorded their second win in three games with the lopsided win.

India Tye and Anjali Faehr led Holmes with 15 and 10 points, respectively, with MaKyah Covington scoring eight. Tye is averaging 16.3 points per game and Faehr is averaging 10.6.

Holmes (2-5) plays host to Scott on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Bellevue 62, Ludlow 36

Bellevue won their third straight game with a sound victory over Ludlow.

Jaylah Dowell led four Tigers in double figures with 19 points, Paulina Long, Ally MacPherson and Jayda Dowell scoring 10 points apiece. Sydni Massey chipped in eight. Massey added 13 rebounds, Jayda Dowell with 10 as they pulled down 55 rebounds in the contest.

Bellevue (4-1) returns to action on Friday when they play at Dayton at 7:30 p.m. Ludlow (2-4) hosts Covington Latin on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
