Highlands hit the road and escaped with a 66-62 win at St. Henry.

Every free throw made a difference in this one. Both took 15, but Highlands made 13 and St. Henry made 10.

Brayden Moeves made 8-of-9 free throws and four three-pointers on his way to a game-high 26 for Highlands. Lincoln Hicks and Nathan Vinson followed with 13 each and Vinny Listerman scored nine.

St. Henry had eight different players score. Andrew Reis led the way with 14 points and Ryan Hartman scored 13.

Highlands (3-1) plays at St. Xavier in Louisville at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday in the Donate Life Classic. St. Henry (1-4) plays host to Scott on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Boys Basketball

Beechwood 57, Bishop Brossart 49

The Tigers outrebounded the Mustangs, 30-17 on their way to the non-region win.

Jack Sullivan led the way for the Tigers with 25 points. Carson Blackburn and Quinn Eviston gave him some help scoring 10 each. Blackburn added five assists and Austin Naven led Beechwood with eight rebounds.

Brossart put three players in double figures. Ben Doyle led the way scoring 19 with Alex Combs and Brady Boruske scoring 14 and 11, respectively.

The Mustangs (2-2) host Bracken County on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers (2-2) host New Richmond (Ohio) on Dec. 16 at 6 p.m.

The Colonels bounced back from their first loss of the season Tuesday with a convincing 9th Region home win.

Catherine Buddenberg and Bella Crawford continued to lead Dixie Heights scoring above their season averages with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Abby Thelen and Avery Moore followed with eight each.

Lyric Hooper had a nice game scoring 12 for Boone County, but Dixie Heights held Joslyn Humphrey to seven points. Hooper and Humphrey averaged 15.2 and 13.5 points per game, respectively, entering the game.

Dixie Heights (4-1) hosts Simon Kenton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Boone County (2-3) does not play again until Dec. 15 when the Rebels hit the road to take on Ryle at 6 p.m. in a 33rd District seed game.

Sacred Heart 54, Cooper 42

Cooper led the three-time defending state champion Valkyries, 30-29 at halftime and trailed just 37-35 entering the fourth quarter, but could not pull off the win.

Sacred Heart won the rebounding battle, 40-22 for the biggest difference in the game. Both teams made 16 field goals, but Sacred Heart took 28 free throws to just nine for Cooper, outscoring the visitors, 15-5 at the free-throw line.

Logan Palmer led Cooper’s valiant effort with 14 points and Bella Deere scored nine.

Cooper (3-1) travels to Montgomery County on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. game.

Bishop Brossart 63, Beechwood 17

The Mustangs made 10 three-pointers as they’re off to a 5-0 start to the season.

Brossart displayed its balance with nine different players scoring. Greylee Kramer led the way scoring 13 points with Kylie Smith and Zoee Meyers scoring 11 and 10, respectively.

Brossart held Beechwood standout Riley Boyd to just six after she came into the game averaging 16.3 points per game.

Beechwood (2-2) takes on first-year KHSAA member Grace James Academy out of Louisville at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Brossart (5-0) plays at Augusta on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
