The Taylor Mill City Commission voted Wednesday to hold a public hearing on the Pride Park project and selected the official location for the park’s new pickleball courts.
“There are some locations within the park that create grading concerns, would be a lot more expensive in terms of the site work, or could lead to future maintenance issues,” said City Administrator Devon Golden.
The courts will be situated between the park’s parking lots, next to the park’s established shelter, on the Taylor Mill Road side of the park. From an engineering standpoint, this was the option the commission recommended.
“The thought process is that they’re put as close as possible to the shelter and the parking lot to allow for expansion in the future,” said Golden.
This is part of Pride Park’s renovation project, including repaving the park’s walking paths and possibly adding a new water fountain near the bathrooms or outside the shelter.
Taylor Mill will apply for a Land and Water Conservation grant to help cover the project costs. If accepted, the city will contribute $125,000, with another $125,000 coming from federal funds.
The special meeting is set for Sept. 28 at 6:15 pm.
