The Highlands Bluebirds girls basketball team (19-8) had put together nine straight seasons of 20 or more wins prior to last year.
Highlands took another step toward that mark with a 46-43 win over the host Bishop Brossart Mustangs (19-9) on Thursday evening. Sophomore center Marissa Green led the Bluebirds with 21 points and senior point guard Alyssa Harris scored 12.
Highlands made 41 percent of its shots including 33 percent from three-point range and 36 percent of its free throws to go with 16 assists, 10 steals, 10 turnovers and 28 rebounds. Green grabbed 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Brossart made five three-pointers and just 2-of-4 free throws for 50 percent. Senior forward Molly Kramer and senior guard Jill Planeaux led the Mustangs with 12 points each and sophomore guard Zoee Meyers scored nine.
Brossart plays at Holy Cross (22-5) on Friday. Highlands plays host to Simon Kenton (14-11) on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles (12-15) downed the visiting Bath County Wildcats (14-11) to win their second straight.
Scott made six three-pointers and 14 of 17 free throws for 82 percent. Junior guard Xarek Sarakatsannis led the Eagles with 18 points and junior point guard Jon Evans scored 13. Senior center Nolan Hunter scored 12 with senior guard Brayden Howell scoring 11.
Scott plays host to Simon Kenton (17-8) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Campbell County 84, Ryle 60
The Camels (16-11) downed the Raiders (9-14) shooting 53 percent from the field including 38 percent from three-point range and making 77 percent of their free throws to go with 41 rebounds.
Senior forward Aydan Hamilton led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Jake Gross scored 21 with sophomore guards Garyn Jackson and Jaidan Combs scoring 11 and 10 respectively. Junior power forward Connor Weinel led the Camels with 11 rebounds.
Campbell County travels to Boone County (4-17) on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game. Ryle plays host to Fleming County (17-8) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
