LINK nky is once again excited to partner with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and announce the highly popular Team of the Week and Team of the Season awards are back for 2025-26 sports seasons!

To be the winning team, fan votes play a heavy role, along with consideration from our sports team here at LINK.

Nominations are reader-submitted or recommended by our sports team. Our Team of the Week program honors all local sports at all levels, whether it’s youth or adult-oriented recreation, high school or college, professional or amateur.

The new school year has added to the awards program. OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and LINK nky are excited to expand in addition to the weekly winners, the program will be including three winners for Team of the Season and one overall winner for Team of the Year for the 2024-25 sports seasons.

New this year for the program is the addition of the Team of the Season (TOTS) and Team of the Year (TOTY) awards. Sports seasons are considered fall, winter and spring for the purpose of this awards program. At the conclusion of each sports season, an overall TOTS winner will be chosen from all previous TOTW winners for that season. Their school will also receive a $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

Finally, the program culminates by selecting one TOTY from the three TOTS award winners. Online and print articles will again be published, a large commemorative plaque will be presented and the school will receive an additional $500 scholarship to be presented to the athlete of their choice at the end of the school year.

The call for nominations, voting and winning announcement for each will follow the same format as the TOTW.

RYLE ARCHERY

The Raiders set a season-high score of 3,336 to win the Summit View Royal Shootout over the weekend out of 12 teams that competed. They won first by 46 points.

Leading the way for Ryle was five archers in the top 11 of the shootout. Prisha Shah placed first overall with a score of 286, a personal best and connected on 19 tens. Kennan Caudill was fourth overall with a 285 and hit 16 tens. James Kunert also finished with a 285 and arched 15 tens.

Following them were Jack Albertson with a 284 and in sixth in the overall boys division and Gwen Hamon with a 282 and third in the overall girls division.

ST. HENRY GIRLS BASKETBALL

The St. Henry girls basketball team is inching closer to the .500 mark as they picked up a pair of wins last week over Ursula Academy (Ohio) and Beechwood to improve to 8-10. They added another win on Monday over Villa Madonna to improve to 9-10.

In the win over Ursula, three hit double figures as Josephine “Joey” Powers led the way with 16 points. Corrine Blackburn added 14 points while Kenadi Sieg tossed in 10 points. Blackburn added eight rebounds, Sieg with six. Audrey Pieczonka chipped in eight points and was perfect from the free throw line, hitting all four attempts.

In the victory over Beechwood, nine players entered the scoring column led by Blackburn’s 10 point, five rebound effort. Powers chipped in eight, Gia Jones adding six as they held Beechwood to 22 points and 8-of-30 shooting from the field.

St. Henry looks to add on to their three-game winning streak on Thursday when they host Boone County.

COVINGTON CATHOLIC BOWLING

The Covington Catholic bowling team won the Region 6 title on Jan. 21.

In their path to the title they defeated Lloyd Memorial, Cooper and Holy Cross.

Dylan Davis was the individual standout as he posted the second best score headed into bracket play and made it to the semifinals, Landon Walker was 15th and Will Melching 19th.

DIXIE HEIGHTS GIRLS BOWLING

The Dixie Heights girls bowling team won the Region 6 title on Jan. 21.

They defeated Conner, Beechwood and Boone County on their way to the title. Alyssa Bechtol won the individual region title for the Colonels while Abree Young posted a top four score to make the bracket play and lost to Bechtol in the semifinals.
