The ‘small but mighty’ motto helped the Scott volleyball team prevail for a 37th District championship on Oct. 19, their first since 2020.

The Eagles knocked off No. 1 seed Campbell County, 3-2 (25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 18-25, 15-13) at Bishop Brossart High School.

The Eagles followed up the district title with a trip to the 10th Region championship game, Campbell County getting revenge in that one as the two played yet another five-set thriller. Scott earned victories over Bourbon County in five sets and Bracken County in three sets, despite being shorthanded due to injuries. They finished their season with a 24-16 record.

Last week, Sophomore Milyn Minor was named the KVCA 10th Region Player of the Year. The Eagles had a fairly young team with just one senior on the roster in Brooke Balsley. They’ll return quite a bit from the rotation that includes Minor, Elise Manhardt, Morgan Justice, Brooklyn Helm, Ryann Grigsby and Payton Grigsby.

Congratulations to our other nominees as well: Ludlow football, Bishop Brossart boys cross country, Ryle girls cross country.
