CALVARY CHRISTIAN BASEBALL

A 3-1 week for the Cougars capped off a stretch in which they finished the regular season strong, winning four of their last five to finish at 13-19. Calvary Christian defeated Dayton (19-7), Augusta (10-6) and Menifee County (10-0) in the week.

In the three games, the Cougars cranked out 52 hits, led by Noah Thornberry with eight hits. Troy McCann and Connor Rossiter tallied seven hits apiece, Luke Corbin, Graham Hahn and Race Zachary with six hits apiece, Joshua Ruwe with five.

In the victory over Menifee, Joshua Ruwe and Corbin combined for a one-hit shutout and struck out seven. In the lone loss to Williamstown in a 2-1 defeat, Ruwe, McCann and Corbin allowed three hits through six innings before losing in the seventh.

VILLA MADONNA SOFTBALL

The Vikings posted a 4-1 week last week with wins over Calvary Christian (17-7), Newport (19-4), and Ludlow twice (17-2 and 30-10). The solid week got them over .500 to end the regular season, finishing with a 12-10 record as they enter the district tournament on Tuesday night against Lloyd Memorial.

Villa racked up 60 hits in the five games, spreading the wealth around. Cam Kratzer led the way with 12 hits, Catherine Gibbs had 10, Grace Reynolds with eight and Kathryn McLagan, Chloe Cotton and Rosemary Rice with seven hits each and Emma Adams with six hits.

Kratzer won two games in the circle, Cotton and Rice winning the others.

RYLE BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

The Raiders took home first place at the Dixie Invite on May 9, scoring 123 points and edging out Campbell County with 119.5 points.

Top three finishers in the meet for Ryle were:

Derril Carr, 100-meter dash (11.24), second place

Abram Cusick, 200-meter dash (23.41), second place

Andrew Price, 800 meters (2:07.93), second place

Braxton Portwood, 800 meters, (2:08.39), third place

Parker Turnbull, 3,200 meters (10:32.86), second place

Evan Talley, 110-meter hurdles (16.64), first place

Kaden Gardner, 300-meter hurdles (40.14)

4×200 relay team (1:34.42), second place

Kaden Gardner, high jump (6-02), second place

Benjamin Coker, long jump (19-0.25), second place

Ethan Southerland, pole vault (13-06), first place

Drew Dickerson, discus (41-06), second place

DIXIE HEIGHTS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

The Colonels won their own meet on May 9, taking down the eight-team field by 14 points. Dixie Heights racked up 126 points, Highlands coming in second with 112.

Top three finishers in the meet for Dixie were:

Ashtyn Ivey, 100-meter dash (12.88), first place

Lauren Williams, 3,200 meters (13:09.30), second place

Caroline Hooper, high jump (4-10), second place

Aubrey Elkins, long jump (16-06), second place

Aubrey Elkins, 200-meter dash (27.94), third place

Alayna Hocker, 400 meters (1:03.90), third place

Harper Allen, 800 meters (2:33.79), third place

Hope Tignor, 1,600 meters (5:58.93), third place

Makenzie Mitchell, 100-meter hurdles (17.52), third place

Emily Bruns, 300-meter hurdles (50.63), third place

Abby Parsons, pole vault (7-06), third place

The Colonels finished strong in the relays, winning the 4×100 (51.35), 4×200 (1:48.09) and the 4×400 (4:16.02).
