The Thomas More men’s and women’s basketball teams notched Mid-South conference victories in Columbia on Saturday.

The women remained undefeated with a 70-56 victory while the men improved to 14-2 with a 78-72 triumph.

Thomas More 70, Lindsey Wilson 56 (Women)

The Saints (17-0, 11-0) methodically pulled away from Lindsey Wilson (8-9, 2-9) on Saturday.

They held leads of 21-14 after one, 32-28 at half, 49-36 after three before eventually winning by 14.

Thomas More shot 50 percent from the field in the contest, led by Zoie Barth’s 20 point, six rebound and six assist effort. Barth was one of three players to hit double figures, Emily Simon adding 14 points and Kelly Brenner with 11 as 10 different players entered the scoring column. The Saints had 18 assists on their 26 made field goals and committed just eight turnovers.

The win gives Thomas More a game and a half cushion in the Mid-South standings, Campbellsville sitting at 9-1 in conference play.

Thomas More takes on Cumberland (Tenn.) next on Thursday.

Thomas More 78, Lindsey Wilson 72 (Men)

After trailing by one at the break, Thomas More (14-2, 9-2) opened things up in the second half to pull away for a conference road win.

Lindsey Wilson (6-10, 2-9) took a 33-32 advantage into the break, but the Saints used a 22-4 run to open up a 64-47 lead. They led 76-59 with a little over two minutes remaining before Lindsey Wilson closed on a 13-2 run.

Reid Jolly led the Saints with 25 points, hitting 12-of-17 shots from the field. The Saints shot a blistering 58 percent from the field in the contest. Wyatt Vieth added 15, Noah Pack with 14 and Casey George chipping in 12. Thomas More hit 5-of-12 from deep and 13-of-14 from the charity stripe.

With Freed-Hardeman’s loss at Georgetown on Saturday, it gets the Saints within a game of first place in the Mid-South, in a tie for second with Georgetown.
