Frankfort, Ky. (August 31, 2026) — Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf is celebrating a successful Treasury presence at the Kentucky State Fair, where thousands of fairgoers stopped by the Treasury’s booth to learn more about unclaimed property.

Treasury staff helped 1,356 fairgoers search for unclaimed property, identifying at least $84,049 in money that belongs to Kentuckians.

“We struck gold at this year’s State Fair — not just in the number of people who stopped by, but in the money we helped Kentuckians find,” said Treasurer Mark H. Metcalf. “Every claim we help a Kentuckian make is a step toward getting their money back where it belongs, and we’re going to keep working to put money back in the hands of Kentucky families.”

The State Fair outreach is part of the Treasury’s ongoing efforts to help Kentuckians find and claim unclaimed property through county roadshows and events across Kentucky.
