MASON, Ohio. Lifepath Apostolic AGAPE House of Prayer has been approved for an AmeriCorps Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service grant award of up to $100,000 to launch the AGAPE Community Volunteer Corps, a regional volunteer engagement initiative serving Greater Cincinnati, including communities and organizations throughout Northern Kentucky.
The initiative will recruit, train, and mobilize approximately 200 volunteers to participate in service projects that strengthen neighborhoods, support nonprofit organizations, engage community and faith-based partners, and address pressing local needs.
Although the initiative will include activities connected to the national Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, Lifepath is intentionally building the AGAPE Community Volunteer Corps as a sustainable, year-round volunteer program. The organization plans to create the systems, partnerships, volunteer leadership structures, and training resources needed to continue connecting volunteers with meaningful service opportunities beyond the initial grant period.
“Our vision extends far beyond a single day of service,” said Pastor Dawn Sanders, Executive Director of Lifepath Apostolic AGAPE House of Prayer. “We are building a lasting volunteer infrastructure that brings people and organizations together across the Greater Cincinnati region, including Northern Kentucky. We want to equip volunteers, strengthen local organizations, and create partnerships that continue serving our communities throughout the year.”
Through the initiative, Lifepath will seek partnerships with nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, civic associations, businesses, local governments, and community groups throughout the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky metropolitan area. Participating organizations may serve as service-project hosts, volunteer recruitment partners, referral partners, sponsors, or providers of technical and in-kind support.
Potential service priorities include food insecurity, neighborhood revitalization, workforce development, youth engagement, nonprofit capacity building, access to community resources, and other needs identified through local partnerships.
“Dr. King taught that service belongs to everyone,” Sanders said. “Individuals, families, businesses, congregations, schools, and community organizations all have something valuable to contribute. Through the AGAPE Community Volunteer Corps, we want to make it easier for people to find meaningful opportunities to serve and create measurable community impact.”
Lifepath is currently inviting Northern Kentucky nonprofit organizations, schools, churches, businesses, civic groups, and local leaders to discuss potential service projects and partnership opportunities. The organization is also seeking individuals interested in volunteering, serving as volunteer leaders, or helping coordinate community-based projects.
Additional information about volunteer registration, project locations, partnership opportunities, and the 2027 Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service activities will be announced as program planning progresses.
