As part of this year’s National Night Out celebration, the City of Florence Veterans Commission will lead the dedication of the city’s new Liberty Tree on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. at the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Boulevard.
The Liberty Tree Dedication serves as a special tribute in honor of America’s 250th Birthday and recognizes the enduring values of freedom, unity, and civic pride that have shaped our nation since its founding. Historically, Liberty Trees became powerful symbols of patriotism during the American Revolution, serving as gathering places where citizens united in support of independence and liberty.
Residents attending National Night Out are invited to gather for this meaningful ceremony as city officials, veterans, and community leaders commemorate this lasting symbol of our nation’s heritage. The Liberty Tree will stand as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom and the responsibility shared by future generations to preserve those ideals.
“The Liberty Tree represents more than our nation’s history, it symbolizes the strength of a community that comes together in the spirit of freedom, service, and unity,” said Mayor Aubuchon. “As we celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, we are honored to dedicate this tree as a lasting reminder of the values that unite us and the responsibility we all share in building a stronger future for generations to come.”
The dedication will take place during the city’s annual National Night Out, held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. National Night Out is a free, family friendly event that strengthens partnerships between residents, local government, law enforcement, first responders, and community organizations. Guests will enjoy a complimentary grill out style dinner, opportunities to meet City departments and community organizations, public safety equipment displays, and complimentary Filmore’s Ice Cream made possible through the generous sponsorship of M&P Logistics.
National Night Out is scheduled to take place as planned. The City of Florence will continue to closely monitor weather conditions to help ensure the safety of attendees, volunteers, and staff.
