This free, family-friendly regional event continues to grow as one of Northern Kentucky’s most meaningful cultural celebrations, bringing together families, educators, businesses, and community leaders from across Northern Kentucky, Greater Cincinnati, and Southeast Indiana. This year’s theme, “United Through Legacy: 100 Years Strong — Celebrating Freedom, Family & Future,” and slogan “Rooted in History. Rising in Unity.” honor Juneteenth while recognizing the 100th anniversary of Black History Month and the continued contributions of African American communities across the region.
The Juneteenth celebration is free and open to the public and will include:
• Live entertainment & cultural performances
• Youth & family activities
• Community resource booths
• Food vendors & refreshments
• Free health screenings
• Educational exhibits
• Free giveaways & raffle prizes
A key focus of this year’s event is preserving and sharing Florence’s African American history, including: The historic First Baptist African American Church, founded in 1870 by the Trustees of the Colored Baptist Association, which served formerly enslaved individuals and freedmen after the Civil War. The event will also highlight African American burial sites at Florence Cemetery, where early Black residents, veterans, church founders, and community builders are laid to rest. Educational exhibits will be provided by the Boone County Public Library Archive & History Center, offering historical interpretation and research-based presentations.
