St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky is launching the 30th year of the Summer Breeze Program on June 1.

ERLANGER, KY (June 1, 2026) – St. Vincent de Paul Northern Kentucky (SVdP NKY) is once again providing free fans and air conditioning units to neighbors in need through its annual Summer Breeze Program, sponsored by St. Elizabeth Healthcare. Now in its 30th year, the Summer Breeze Program is Northern Kentucky’s only heat relief initiative of its kind.

“For three decades, the Summer Breeze Program has played a vital role in protecting children, seniors, and medically vulnerable individuals across Northern Kentucky from dangerous summer temperatures,” said Karen Zengel, SVdP NKY Executive Director. “We deeply appreciate our generous partners and supporters for allowing us to continue providing this critical service to our community.”

The Summer Breeze Program provides free air conditioning units for medically vulnerable individuals with a doctor’s note and free fans for any Northern Kentucky resident in need. Distribution will take place at SVdP NKY’s Erlanger location on a first-come, first-served basis during designated distribution hours from Monday, June 1 through Monday, August 31, or while supplies last.

“As we head into the summer months, it’s important to remember that extreme heat can pose serious health risks—especially for seniors and those with chronic respiratory conditions,” said Dr. Chaitanya Mandapakala, Pulmonologist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. “The Summer Breeze Program helps ensure our neighbors have access to safe, cool environments when they need it most.”

How to Receive Assistance
• Air conditioning units require a doctor’s note on official letterhead, documenting a need for an air conditioner.
• Fans do not require a doctor’s note.
• Distribution location: 2655 Crescent Springs Road, Erlanger, KY 41017
• Distribution times: Monday-Friday 11am to 4pm, with extended hours on Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm (June Only).

• NKY residents are encouraged to review details before arriving for distribution.

Last summer, SVdP NKY provided 387 fans and 255 air conditioning units, valued at more than $43,000. Demand quickly exceeded the program’s initial supply, prompting an emergency restock through additional funding.
