Covington, KY – May 7, 2026 — Since its founding in 2017, Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky has been driven by a clear and powerful belief: when a community unites around purpose, generosity, and trust, meaningful change follows. Today, the organization is celebrating significant milestones that reflect both its rapid growth and the strength of the Northern Kentucky community.
Horizon has been recognized as the 21st fastest-growing community foundation in the United States out of 903 organizations, according to the Community Foundation Census by the Community Foundation and Training Institute. In less than a decade, the foundation has helped raise more than $118 million and has granted over $50 million back into the region, supporting initiatives that strengthen and uplift local communities.
“These milestones are not just financial benchmarks, they represent the generosity and shared commitment of Northern Kentucky,” said Nancy Grayson, President and CEO. “Our success is rooted in the people and partners who believe in building a stronger, more vibrant region together.”
A powerful example of this collective impact is the NKY Food Support Fund, launched in fall 2025 in response to the federal government shutdown and pause in SNAP benefits. Demonstrating the community’s ability to act quickly in times of crisis, Horizon mobilized resources to raise nearly $300,000 in just one week.
Through a coordinated effort led by Be Concerned and supported by a network of 19 nonprofit partners, the initiative ensured efficient and equitable food distribution across the region. The results were significant: more than 103,000 individuals from over 56,000 households received food support. The collaborative approach delivered two-and-a-half times the impact of the NKY Coronavirus Relief Fund, underscoring the power of strategic partnerships and community trust.
Horizon continues to serve as a mobilizing force for good, bringing together people, resources, and ideas to address both urgent needs and long-term challenges. Looking ahead, the foundation emphasizes that continued impact depends on strong partnerships across sectors.
