Fort Mitchell, KY – As we begin the new year, DCCH Center for Children and Families is excited to announce the 20th anniversary of our largest fundraiser of the year, Swing into Spring. Join us on April 25th, 2026, to learn more about DCCH, raise funds for the children, and feel the impact that our Heart Healer community has on the children in our care. To kick off the announcement of our 20th anniversary of Swing into Spring, we are sharing 20 facts about DCCH Center for Children and Families you might not know:
1. DCCH is one of 18 Qualified Residential Treatment Programs (QRTP) across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
2. We average 90 referrals a month for our Residential Treatment Program and 445 referrals a month for our Therapeutic Foster Care Program.
3. The cost for 1 child per day is $531 and our reimbursement from the Commonwealth is $336, which creates a deficit of $195 a day, per child, and $2.2 million each year.
4. In 1999, Beechwood Independent School District assumed responsibility for the operation of the Guardian Angel School on our campus and formed a collaborative relationship with us that stands to this day.
5. Our Independent Living Program was started in 2017 to assist young adults who are transitioning out of foster care.
6. There are 5 horses on our campus used for equine sessions allowing the children to learn more about building connections, safety, coping with feelings, and more.
7. Started in 2012, our Outpatient Therapy Program focuses on children, teens, adults, and families while also providing martial therapy and grief counseling.
8. The Targeted Case Management Program was started in 2019 to address the needs of children and families providing services such as housing assistance, mental health referrals, and more.
9. Our Flea Market is 100% volunteer run and all proceeds go to the children living at DCCH.
10. DCCH has been operating for over 177 years with quality care and a seamless continuum of services.
11. Since 2002, DCCH has completed 182 adoptions, serving children from infancy to age 18.
12. There were 4,100 Outpatient Therapy sessions delivered in 2024.
13. The number of youths served in our Independent Living Program increased from 3 to 7 in 2025.
14. DCCH was the second childcare agency in the Commonwealth to provide private adoptions.
15. The HALO League (Helping All the Little Ones) is a long-time DCCH group that attends to the social needs of the children and staff by hosting monthly events.
16. We have many collaborative partnerships including Sun Behavioral, Fort Mitchell Police and Fire, Redwood/Easter Seals, Care Closet, Life Learning Center, and Cincinnati Children’s.
17. DCCH started as St. John’s Orphanage in 1848 and has undergone many shifts in focus, but in 1957 we evolved to care for neglected and dependent children, and in 1966 we added care for emotionally disturbed children.
18. The DCCH Flea Market was voted the “Best Thrift Store in Kenton County for 2025”.
19. Last fiscal year, 280 individuals contributed a total of 107,738 volunteer service hours and more than 55 corporate and community groups dedicated over 1,600 hours to support our mission.
20. 93% of the children discharged from our Residential Treatment Program were able to move on to a less restrictive, more stable setting.
