FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 1, 2025 — Sen. Chris McDaniel, R-Ryland Heights, has been honored by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce as a 2025 MVP for his pivotal role in advancing pro-business legislation and fiscal reforms during the 2025 General Assembly session.
As chair of the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee, McDaniel was instrumental in the passage of House Bill 1, which reduces the state individual income tax from 4 percent to 3.5 percent, effective Jan. 1, 2026. This measure is projected to cut $718 million in taxes and provide substantial relief to Kentucky taxpayers.
Beyond tax reform, McDaniel supported several key initiatives aimed at strengthening Kentucky’s economy.
Senate Bill 64 enhances protections against tampering with or damaging critical infrastructure to safeguard essential services like broadband and power systems.
Senate Bill 162 implements stricter measures to combat unemployment insurance fraud and ensure the integrity of the system and protecting taxpayer funds.
Senate Bill 202 creates a regulatory framework for hemp-derived beverages to provide clarity and safety standards in a growing sector of the beverage industry.
