Cincinnati Indian Film Festival

The 9th annual Cincinnati Indian Film Festival kicks off this week.

From October 4 through 6, the Festival showcases the power of diversity through film, with Cincinnati, the host city, taking center stage.

The Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati (IFFCincy), known for its mission to “Engage Diversity Through Film,” is back in theaters with its highly anticipated 9th Annual Film Festival.

Prepare to be captivated by a stellar lineup of narrative and documentary features and thought-provoking short films. Spread across the historic Mariemont Theatre in Cincinnati and the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, this festival promises to immerse audiences in a cinematic journey.

Ratee Apana, PhD., Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati and the visionary Executive Director of IFFCincy, expresses her excitement about this transformative experience: “We are thrilled to share these captivating films with our Cincinnati audiences. Each film has been carefully selected to engage diversity through the art of cinema. We aim to create an inclusive space that resonates with all communities, promoting dialogue and fostering a shared sense of connection.”

By supporting the Indian Film Festival of Cincinnati, attendees actively participate in empowering the next generation of leaders. The festival supports education and empowerment beyond the silver screen. Net proceeds from ticket sales provide scholarships for Cincinnati Public High School students who need to participate in the Cincinnati Sister Cities Youth Ambassador Program (India).

Apana encourages moviegoers to look beyond the festival’s name. The seventh edition of IFFC presents an impressive lineup with a mix of English-speaking and subtitled films.

Renowned for its commitment to showcasing revolutionary short films, the IFFCincy Festival is the only one of its kind in Ohio and stands as a distinguished platform for cinematic brilliance.

“We invite the community to join IFFCincy in this noble cause and walk in the shoes of different characters, cultures, and communities. Together, we can make a difference in lives of Cincinnati’s youth and pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive future,” states Apana.

Opening night will take place at The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati on October 4th at 6:15 p.m. and tickets are still available. Learn more about the movie lineup for 2024.
