WHAT: On Saturday, September 21, Rudler, PSC, an accounting and consulting firm in Northern Kentucky, will host its annual Shred Day in partnership with the City of Fort Wright and Shred-It. Nerdwallet shares that The Federal Trade Commission received more than 1 million reports of identity theft through its IdentityTheft.gov website in 2023. Identity theft is when someone uses your personal data — your name, Social Security number, birth date, etc. — to impersonate you or steal from you. This event provides individuals a convenient and free way to safely dispose of private documents containing sensitive information, such as credit card statements, old checks, old IRS tax returns and more.

COST: The event is free to attend but donations are welcome and will be used to support “Shop with a Cop”, a program designed to foster a connection between children and law enforcement, particularly for children who have been victims of crime or have family members involved with law enforcement.
VISUALS: Opportunity to gather B-roll of large quantities of documents being loaded into a Shred-It truck. Interviews with qualified experts and CPAs on the importance of safely disposing of sensitive documents available upon request.
