Ahead of Tuesday’s predicted storms, several Northern Kentucky school districts are closing early.
Covington Independent Public Schools is closing at 12:30 p.m.
Bellevue Independent Schools are closing at 1 p.m.
Boone County Public Schools are closing high schools at noon and elementary schools at 1 p.m.
Erlanger-Elsmere Independent Schools will close at noon.
Kenton County Schools are closing secondary schools at 11:30 a.m. and elementary schools at 12:30 p.m. All after-school activities have also been canceled.
Newport Independent Schools is closing its high school at 1 p.m., intermediate school at 1:10 p.m., and primary school at 1:20 p.m. Afternoon preschool and all after-school activities have been canceled.
Walton-Verona Independent School District is dismissing students at noon and canceling all after-school activities.
According to weather reports from LINK nky’s content partner WCPO, parts of the Midwest and Ohio Valley are bracing for a potential tornado outbreak on Tuesday as the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center warned of “significant long-track tornadoes” for parts of the region.
Forecasters said the highest risk of damaging severe weather was for northern Kentucky, eastern Indiana and much of Ohio. Cities facing the highest risk of severe weather on Tuesday include Louisville, Kentucky; Lexington, Kentucky; Cincinnati; and Columbus, Ohio.
