Milestones, Inc., an equine therapy organization in Independence founded in 1999, recently received international accreditation for its Equestrian Achievement Program, which provides therapeutic horsemanship for people with disabilities and other physical challenges.

Specifically, the program was honored with Premier Accredited Center status from the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International, or PATH International. The organization provides accreditation and resources for horse-based therapy programs around the world.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized as a [PATH International] Premier Accredited Center,” said Samuel Lange, board president of Milestones in a press release. “This accomplishment reflects the passion and dedication of our staff, volunteers and community. Therapeutic horsemanship has been life-changing for so many, including my own son Austin, who began riding here and has thrived through the care and support of our amazing team.”

The program provides services for people with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other disabilities. The organization operates out of a 44-acre facility in Independence and provided 40 weeks of lessons to 189 riders in 2024. The organization also provides programs for seniors as well as literacy programs. It was honored as the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year for Therapeutic Camps by Cincy Magazine.
