LINK nky’s Educator of the Week nominees

At LINK nky, we believe that educators – whether they are teachers or principals, tutors or superintendents – are at the heart of our community’s success. The Educator of the Week contest is our way of recognizing and celebrating the incredible educators who go above and beyond for Northern Kentucky students every day.

Each week, we will choose three nominees who have made an impact on their community and who represent a diverse mix of roles, grade levels, subject areas, school types and geographic locations.

The Educators

Amy Huff

Educator: Amy Huff

Role: Teacher at Campbell County Middle School

Nominator: Kaylee Clevenger

Why Clevenger nominated Huff:

Mrs. Huff is a very talented person. She is always there for you even when you are going through a rough time. She always brings a smile to the CCMS students and she makes everyone feel like they are enough. She always does her best to bring her best personality to the building and she is a very hard worker even when she feels like giving up she does her best. She is the reason why so many students want to be a singer when they are older. She lets us be ourselves and she always makes us laugh. So please VOTE FOR MRS. HUFF !!!

Hannah Lin

Educator: Hannah Lin

Role: Teacher at Blessed Sacrament- Fort Mitchell

Nominator: Shelby Stoll

Why Stoll nominated Lin:

We were nervous to send our first born off to school (pre-school) and along came Ms. Linn. She values every student. She helps them recognize challenges, differences, and skills. She teaches in a way that makes learning fun for them. Our son was ready to go to school every day because he enjoyed it and she was a big part of that. She helps her students overcome challenges they may face everyday at such a young age. Her passion and love for the job is extraordinary! She values communication from parents so you don’t feel in the dark. The progress these young students make in just one year is remarkable because of her. She truly cares for them. She shows up at soccer games to see the kids play. She is a one of a kind pre-school teacher!

Educator: Allison Peeno

Allison Peeno

Role: Teacher at Turkey Foot Middle School

Nominator: William Barr

Why Severson (one of Hall’s nominators) nominated Hall :

I think my chorus teacher, Mrs. Peeno, should be Educator of the Week because she is really nice and helps everyone do their best. She works at Turkey Foot Middle School and makes chorus fun even when we are tired or not in the mood. She always greets us with a smile and says good morning even if it’s early and we are all half asleep. It makes the class feel more welcoming.

Mrs. Peeno is really good at teaching music. She explains things in a way that is easy to understand, even if you don’t know much about singing. If we mess up, she doesn’t get mad; she just helps us fix it and try again. She says practice makes progress, not perfect, and that makes people feel less nervous. I used to be scared to sing in front of people but now I feel more confident because of her.

Another reason she should be Educator of the Week is that she cares about her students. If someone is having a bad day, she notices and will ask if they are ok. She makes sure nobody feels left out. In the chorus, we all work together like a team, and that is because of her. She teaches us not just music but also how to support each other.

She also makes class fun by letting us sing different songs and sometimes even letting us pick music. We do warm-ups that are kinda silly but also help our voices get better. Sometimes we laugh a lot, but we still learn at the same time. That is what makes her class one of my favorites.

Mrs. Peeno also works really hard for concerts. She spends a lot of time helping us practice and making sure we sound good. Even when we get something wrong over and over she stays patient. When the concert finally happens, it feels really good because we know we worked hard and she helped us get there.

I also like how she believes in us even when we don’t believe in ourselves. She tells us we can do it and that our voices matter. That really sticks with me because not all teachers say stuff like that. She makes people feel proud of what they can do.

In conclusion, Mrs. Peeno should be Educator of the Week because she is kind, helpful, and makes learning fun. She helps students grow not just in singing but also in confidence. She always tries her best for us and we should recognize that. I am really glad she is my chorus teacher.
