The Kenton County Board of Education honored a group of 20 staff and community members at its monthly meeting on Monday night.
Called the “Team Kenton Awards,” the awards were given “in recognition of valuable contributions to ensure a world class education for all kids,” said Kenton County Schools Superintendent Henry Webb.
The awards honored a variety of people from different roles around the district, including teachers, school resource officers and community members, as well as operations, maintenance and support staff. Several of the people honored were recognized for their help in fixing and cleaning up flooding that occurred the night of Christmas Eve at both Simon Kenton High School and Taylor Mill Elementary School. The floods were the result of burst water pipes, and cleanup lasted well into the morning hours, according to school board staff.
“It was a team effort,” Webb said, “just great people.”
