A 62-year-old Campbell County Detention Center inmate walked away from work detail Thursday morning in Newport, according to Campbell County Jailer Jim Daley.
Maj. Zachary Smith confirmed that the inmate is Teddy Bruce Murphy, who is serving time for a probation violation and theft.
Murphy left work detail on Central Avenue in Newport at around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.
Kentucky State Police were notified around 9:30 a.m. and are now searching for Murphy.
Murphy is 5 feet 7 inches tall and 235 pounds. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to call Trooper Davis Jones at 859-428-1212.
