The Newport Police Department confirmed two people were found dead in a building near the Brighton Center Wednesday afternoon.
Newport detectives were following up on a missing person’s report on Ann Street. Upon entrance of the residence at 737 Ann, detectives found two deceased people inside. Newport detectives and the Special Investigations Team processed the scene and collected evidence.
The Newport Police Department says they cannot release any more information at this time in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation and to show respect for the individual’s families.
The Campbell County Coroner’s office had no further information to release at this time.
Yesterday at around 4:30 p.m., police taped off the southern end of the 700 block of Ann Street near its intersection with Eighth Street. Two vehicles parked outside the home were towed away.
An investigator at the scene told LINK nky and other media outlets on the scene that police wanted to make sure that family members were fully informed about what happened before releasing information publicly. The investigator also said official details may not be released until Friday or possibly next week.
